How to Ease Your Worries During Twin Pregnancy

 The moment an ultrasound shows that a mum is expecting twins or multiple babies, she is immediately labeled a high-risk pregnancy. As a first-time twin mum, the first instinct is to research and find the risks that are associated with a twin pregnancy. The twin mum's mind is definitely full of worries, especially about what would go wrong, and if she is an obsessive thinker like me, things to worry about never run out. Here is a list of things that I found useful in easing my worries during my twin pregnancy;

1. Praying

If you believe in a higher deity, this will definitely come in handy. The knowing that there is a higher power and force watching over the twins is something that gave me comfort and calmed my worries. There is not much you can do when the twins are implanted to make sure that they are okay. Your efforts are very limited.

2. Having the best Doctor You Can Afford and Can Trust

Having a professional who knows exactly what they are doing is definitely very calming. Talk to the doctor about your fears and worries about the twin's pregnancy. Having your questions answered in a professional and convincing way puts your mind at ease.

3. Not Googling the Symptoms

Google is an excellent source of information. However, when it comes to health and matters relating to the twin pregnancy, please do not use it. That is why you have your doctor with you. If you feel anxious, book an appointment with your doctor or call him/her to answer your questions.

4. Eat Healthily and Take your Supplements

Make sure to ask for nutritional advice to clear any doubts. Take the supplements as recommended and don't ignore them. Making twins is an uphill task for your body. It needs all the help it can get.

5. Exercise

I will keep insisting on asking for advice from your doctor. During the twin pregnancy, some people are required to take as much rest as possible, while others can carry on as usual. Make sure not to overtask yourself, listen to your body, and be careful. Exercise will make you feel better afterward.

6. Surround yourself with positive energy

Being pregnant with twins is already very exhausting. Don't add to the exhaustion by having people who make you mentally drained around you. If you are afraid of being mean, just do it and later blame it on the hormones.

7. Connect with Other twin mums

There are various ways you can connect with other twin mums. There are Facebook pages for twin mums or even your neighbor who you thought is crazy because she keeps shouting in the morning at her adorable 4-year-old twins. She understands the worries of twin pregnancy way better than your co-worker who keeps talking about Irish twins.

Bottom Line

Twin or any multiple pregnancies is scary. Try to live a day at a time and remain positive. That is the much you can do.
